The week though was busier: Eight Sleep joined the unicorn club with its latest fundraise at a $1.5B valuation. February 2026 saw a slowdown in funding but a sharp spike in M&A activity like we spoke about last week. The month recorded $102.1M in funding across 24 deals, while disclosed M&A reached $1.22B across 5 transactions, driven almost entirely by a single large strategic acquisition by Genius Sports, acquiring Legend for $1.2B

Here’s a quick summary:

  • Geography: Funding activity was heavily concentrated in North America ($79.2M, 77.6%), followed by Europe ($15.9M, 15.6%) and Asia ($7.0M, 6.9%).
    On the M&A side, North America accounted for 60% of deals, with Europe representing the remaining 40%.

  • Sectors: Funding was dominated by ‘For Fans’, which captured $80.1M (79.1%) of total capital raised. ‘For Athletes’ followed with $20.9M (20.6%), while ‘For Executives’ saw just one small deal.
    M&A activity by deal count was evenly split between ‘For Athletes’ (50%) and ‘For Fans’ (50%).

  • Top Deals:
    Novig raised $75M in a Series B round from investors including Pantera Capital, Multicoin Capital, Makers Fund, Edge Equity, Forerunner, NFX, and Perceptive Ventures, making it the largest funding deal of the month.

    On the M&A side, Legend was acquired by Genius Sports for $1.2B, accounting for the vast majority of February’s disclosed acquisition value.
