🎙️ SPORTS TECH ALLSTARS PODCAST
Why Sports Tech’s Next Wave Needs More Than Capital
In this episode, we speak with Uday Khanna, Partner at 1406 Parklane Partners, about how the syndicate is approaching early-stage sports investing and why institutional readiness is becoming increasingly important for founders looking to scale.
Uday explains why 1406 Parklane focuses on pre-seed and early-seed companies where investors can add value beyond capital, from introducing future investors and customers to helping founders prepare for their next stage of growth.
We discuss the areas the syndicate is most interested in across sports, including emerging sports, data infrastructure and wellness and fitness, and how the team looks at commercial tailwinds, institutional involvement and where a market could be three to five years from now.
Uday also shares how his background in M&A and private equity shapes the way he evaluates startups, particularly around building companies that are ready for institutional investors, with stronger diligence, operating processes and a clearer path toward sustainable scale.
The big idea: As more institutional capital moves into sports and sports tech, the startups best positioned to win may be those that start building like institutional-grade businesses long before institutional investors arrive.
